Soccerex 2019: Soccer Brands Descend on Miami

Challenger Sports were in good company last week, as some of the biggest brands and professional organizations in the sector came together at Soccerex USA 2019, which took place in Miami – November 21st – 22nd.

The elite-level industry convention saw over 1,500 soccer executives and delegates meet at the Turnberry Resort in Aventura, with the likes of CONCACAF, LaLiga, MLS, US Soccer, and Inter Miami in attendance. The conference included over 90 speakers, from Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber, Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas, CONCACAF general secretary Philippe Moggio, and Amanda Duffy, the president of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Topics ranged from the evolution of the sport, to branding, stadium innovations, youth soccer and the growth of the women’s game, all featured during the two day event. One of the headline sessions at the event saw Inter Miami’s Managing Owner, Jorge Mas, talk about how the ownership group, which includes global soccer icon David Beckham, are building a local club with a global profile, ahead of their inaugural MLS campaign in 2020. Miami’s role as a soccer city was also highlighted by Miami-Dade Mayor, Carlos Gimenez, who welcomed the delegates as part of the event’s opening ceremony.
