Cardiff Metropolitan University

Study and Play in the UK!

Challenger Sports in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University from Wales, are searching for players who are interested in experiencing an incredible playing and studying opportunity in the UK!
I
This rare opportunity is open to male and female HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS who are looking for a higher level of playing and development than the traditional US college system allows for, and also COLLEGE SENIORS, both men, and women that would like to continue their playing careers beyond the university programming in the United States. Currently, college graduates in the USA have no more eligibility to continue their soccer careers while pursuing a masters degree or finishing up their bachelor’s degree. Cardiff Met offers all college graduates a full European length season with the potential of playing in the UEFA Champions League or Europa League. College Seniors entering a masters degree will have unlimited eligibility as long as they are in good academic standing with the University.

Cardiff Metropolitan University FC is in a unique position to be able to compete in the prestigious UEFA Champions League & UEFA Europa League. This is something most student-athletes can only dream about. In 2017, Cardiff Met FC were one game away from UEFA competition against the likes of Rangers FC. To continue progressing and to compete at this level we are always looking for players who could strengthen our program. – See below for College ID Camp dates.

A central value, and a key to our success has been our support for dual-career student-athletes. All our players are taking full-time undergraduate, postgraduate or research degrees or are recent graduates of the University.

Study & play the UK way has a number of advantages Cardiff Met University F.C. provides:

• A player-centered dual-career pathway to and from the professional/semi-professional game:
• For late-developers between 18-21 with professional potential
• For varsity level players wishing to combine post graduate study & play
• For ex-professionals transitioning to academic study
• An academic & athletic balance that prioritizes the long-term academic, personal and professional needs of players
• Player-centered coaching that focus more on “how to coach”, less on “what to coach”
• Individualised developmental needs within a collective shared team ethos
